The Transforming Teenager:

Back then in 1999, Mithali stepped into the world of cricket at the age of 16. Little did we know that she transforms into a successful captain of Indian Women’s Cricket. In the following decades, she exhibited her batting capacity and emerged as a robust teenager. The veteran cricketer led the team into two world cup finals in 2005 and 2017 with pride. Speaking of which, she scored 10,868 runs out of 333 appearances in the cricket world. To sum up, she has been walking as a mainspring of the team who is strong enough to lead a team. Howbeit, her retirement announcement from her might be an emotional one but she has paved the way for talented young players of the team to move forward.

The Second Innings of Life:

The linchpin of batting includes her Test matches, in which, she is known to be the only double centurion from India. She, thus, transfigured into the nation’s most run-getter in the matches with her unmatchable speed. Never to forget, Mithali Raj is a recipient of the Arjuna Award, a Padma Shri awardee, and the winner of the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award in 2021 as well. “It was an honour to have led the team for so many years. It definitely shaped me as a person & hopefully helped shape Indian Women’s Cricket as well,” she also added. The veteran cricketer concluded that she is moving into the second innings of her life.
