With the main-draw action set to begin after a rain-hit opening day, all eyes will be on India’s Vaishnavi Adkar, Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi and Sahaja Yamalapalli as they spearhead the home challenge at the Chennai Open International Women’s Tennis Championships 2026 on Tuesday, November 3. Monday’s persistent rain washed out the entire day’s play at the SDAT Tennis Stadium, setting up a packed opening day of first-round action, with all three Indians scheduled to feature on Centre Court.
Adkar is scheduled to face Great Britain’s Jodie Burrage on Centre Court, while 17-year-old Maaya will take on eighth seed Katarzyna Kawa of Poland. Yamalapalli will also feature on Centre Court against Switzerland’s Simona Waltert.
The day’s play will begin at 11 am across Centre Court, Court 1 and Court 2 at the SDAT Tennis Stadium. Centre Court will also feature Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann against Chinese Taipei’s Joanna Garland and Linda Fruhvirtova of the Czech Republic against Polish qualifier Weronika Falkowska.
On Court 1, Spain’s Oksana Selekhmeteva will meet Serbia’s Teodora Kostovic, while seventh seed Anastasia Zakharova takes on Polina Iatcenko. Top seed Janice Tjen of Indonesia is scheduled to face American Katherine Hui not before 12:30 pm
Court 2 will see fourth seed Panna Udvardy of Hungary take on Robin Montgomery of the USA, followed by Jeline Vandromme against Japanese qualifier Kyoka Okamura. Sixth seed Polina Kudermetova is set to face lucky loser Viktoria Morvayova not before 12:30 pm.
With no matches possible on Monday due to persistent rain, players will be hoping for favourable weather as the tournament begins its main-draw campaign. The WTA 250 event carries a prize purse of US$283,347 and runs until November 8th 2026.
