Rotary District 3234 Empowers 100 Women Through Landmark Pink Autos Distribution Ceremony
Driving Dignity, Fueling Livelihoods, Transforming Communities
In a powerful demonstration of service and social impact, Rotary District 3234, led by AKS Rtn. Vinod Saraogi, District Governor (2025–26), successfully hosted the 100 Pink Autos Distribution Ceremony at the Chennai Trade Centre. The event marked a pivotal moment in Rotary’s mission to uplift communities through sustainable empowerment and inclusive development.
This milestone initiative formed part of the Lead 25 – Aim High Rotary India Leadership Conclave, further underscoring Rotary’s vision of uniting service and leadership for greater social impact.
Pink Auto Project, provided 100 specially designed pink autos to women from underserved backgrounds, equipping them with the tools to earn a stable livelihood and reclaim economic independence. Each vehicle represents not just mobility, but a gateway to dignity, self-reliance, and hope for entire families.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of esteemed dignitaries and leaders who underscored the importance of collaborative action in driving social change:
- Rtn. Francesco Arezzo, Rotary International President (2025–26), who praised the initiative as “a beacon of Rotary’s global commitment to service above self.”
- Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Government of Tamil Nadu, who commended the program’s alignment with the state’s vision for inclusive growth and women-led development.
- Thiru. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Hon’ble Minister for School Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, who applauded Rotary’s ongoing role in strengthening education and community development.
- AKS Rtn. Er. M. Muruganandam and AKS Rtn. Flr Lt K P Nagesh, RI Directors (2025–27), who reaffirmed Rotary’s dedication to scalable, community-driven solutions.
AKS Rtn. Vinod Saraogi remarked, “This is more than a distribution—it’s a declaration. A declaration that when we invest in women, we invest in the future of our society.”
Speaking at the event, Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, said:
“Rotary continues to be a true partner in progress, whether through life-saving dialysis centers, their historic achievement of ending polio, or providing crucial COVID-19 medical support. Today’s Pink Auto project is yet another lifeline of hope, empowering women, uplifting families, and shaping an inclusive Tamil Nadu.”
Adding to this, Thiru. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Hon’ble Minister for School Education of Tamil Nadu, remarked:
“Namma ooru, Namma school—through Rotary’s remarkable CSR initiative, 1,000 schools will be adopted, ensuring education for life. Rotary’s impact is visible everywhere”.
This landmark initiative was spearheaded by Rtn. Siva Ilangovan, Chairman – Pink Auto Project, whose vision and leadership were instrumental in bringing the program to life.
The event featured a ceremonial handover of keys, heartfelt testimonials from beneficiaries, and a vibrant display of community solidarity. Many of the recipients shared emotional stories of resilience, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their children.
The Pink Autos, now a recognizable symbol of empowerment, will soon be seen across Chennai, operated by women who are rewriting their narratives with pride and purpose.
The initiative aligns with Rotary’s 2025–26 theme, Unite for Good, and sets a precedent for future programs that blend compassion with action.
