Actress Kangana Ranaut says you cannot just Aarey Milk Colony Trees down and turn the entire city into the concrete jungle on the sidelines of press conference of Cauvery Calling Tree Plantation Campaign on Thursday in Mumbai.

When asked about ongoing protest and campaign to Save Aarey Jungle, which has been targeted to cut down for metro shed.

Kangana said, “One day you woke up and decided to cut down all the trees, it is not something that should be allowed. I strongly believe that the way we work around human lives, let’s just say some building needs to be demolished, you just don’t bulldoze it or people living in it. You make arrangements for them and do it safely, but we don’t do the same for animals and trees, and why aren’t we doing it?”

“Why are we not making arrangements for trees and animals? It is my belief that whatever trees are being chopped off for metro, make a plans to plant some trees first, monitor their growth and once they are properly planted, you can build the metro. You cannot just cut down all the trees and turn this city into concrete jungle” she added.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recently gave the approval to cut over 2,600 trees for a Metro car shed in the Aarey Colony adjoining suburban Goregaon, which is known as the major green lung of the city.

On the work front, Ranaut has four upcoming projects. She will portray a kabaddi player in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s sports film Panga, and star in the action film Dhaakad. She will also direct and star in a film based on her own life, and portray the politician Jayalalithaa in a bilingual biopic entitled Thalaivi in Tamil and Jaya in Hindi.
