Media giant Netflix drops the first official trailer of docu-drama “Searching For Sheela” based on the controversial Ma Anand Sheela, a close aide to Osho.

The documentary is based on Ma Anand Sheela, the Indian-born American–Swiss spokeswoman and personal secretary of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh from 1981 through 1985; she managed the Rajneeshpuram ashram in the United States and pleaded guilty to attempted murder and assault for her role in the 1984 Rajneeshee bio-terror attack in Oregon.

Netflix official handle dropped the trailer on social media. It said, “History wasn’t written for her, but she’s here to tell her story now. #SearchingForSheela @karanjohar @apoorvamehta18  #MaAnandSheela @shakunbatra @aneeshabaig @dharmatic_  #jouskafilms”

The trailer chronicles Ma Anand Sheela’s narrative of her story and how her life transformed after she was accused of fraud and murder. She talks about her journey, returning to India after more three decades and how her life has been viewed by the world from Osho’s point of view, who did not shy away from calling her a murderer.

Along with revealing facets of her that have thus far never been seen, a highlight of the documentary is a candid conversation between Ma Anand Sheela and director-producer Karan Johar.

The feature is directed by documentary makers, Shirley Abraham and Amit Madheshiya.
