Gully Boy Wins Asian Academy Creative Award for Best Film Confirms Farhan Akhtar

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starring Gully Boy is making headlines again. After becoming India’s official entry to the 92nd Oscar Awards, the film now bags Asian Academy Creative Award for Best Film.

Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy has now won the best film from India award in the regional finals at the Asian Academy Creative Awards ceremony. Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar who has co-produced the venture with sister Zoya Akhtar took to social media and expressed happiness over the victory.

Gully Boy draws inspiration from the lives of Mumbai street rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy and revolves around the underground rap movement in India.

The film also stars Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles. Gully Boy which released on February 14, 2019, performed extremely well at the box office. Not just hitting the Rs 100-crore mark, the film earned around Rs 140 crore at the domestic box office. It was also the first film where Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt shared screen-space.

As for Farhan Akhtar, the actor is currently enjoying the success of his latest outing with Priyanka Chopra, The Sky Is Pink. Next he will be seen portraying a boxer in Toofan.
