The Westin Chennai Velachery Welcomes the Festive Season with its Annual Cake-Mixing Celebration

Marking the beginning of the most wonderful time of the year, The Westin Chennai Velachery ushered in the festive season with its much-awaited Annual Cake-Mixing Ceremony, bringing together the spirit of Christmas, culinary traditions and community togetherness. Held in the hotel’s lobby, the celebration welcomed guests and patrons for an evening of festive cheer and a cherished Christmas tradition.

The ceremony featured an abundant spread of approximately 150–200 kg of carefully selected dry fruits, generously complemented by an assortment of spirits, including Rum, and an aromatic blend of traditional spices. Cinnamon lent its distinctive warmth to the mixture, while Nutmeg and Star Anise added layers of fragrance and flavor. As guests rolled up their sleeves to toss and blend the ingredients, the gathering transformed into a lively celebration of camaraderie, festive traditions and shared experiences.

More than just a festive ritual, cake mixing marks the beginning of the hotel’s Christmas baking preparations. The carefully blended fruits, nuts, spices and spirits will be allowed to mature over the coming weeks, developing their rich flavors before finding their way into the traditional Christmas cakes and other festive delicacies prepared by the hotel’s culinary team.
