Tamil Nadu’s Thalaiva Rajinikanth and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan share a special bond. Apart from being very good friends, there is one more aspect which binds them together – remakes.
Not many would know that many of Rajinikanth’s films, now considered cult movies of Tamil filmdom, are actually remakes of Amitabh Bachchan hit films. The two shared the screen space in the early 80’s and 90’s in many Bollywood movies such as, ‘Andha Kanoon’, ‘Geraftaar’ and ‘Hum’.
When asked about any few moments he would like to share of his yesteryear co-star with the media, Rajnikanth said, “There are many great moments we have shared together while working. He is the inspiration of my life. He has not only motivated me on camera, but off camera too. Long back he advised me to be very careful and do three things in my life, especially after the age of 60.
First was to do exercise regularly and don’t miss it at all. Secondly, keep yourself busy and do whatever you feel like, forget about the people and their perspective over you. The third advice was, don’t enter into politics. But I followed only the first two advice of his (laughs) and the third one I denied, due to some circumstances.”
