Biopic On Sam Manekshaw Is Titled Sam Bahadur, Starring Vicky Kaushal

Finally, actor Vicky Kaushal unveils the name of forthcoming movie based on the life of India’s first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. The film is titled Sam Bahadur.

Helmed by Meghna Gulzar, and bankrolled by Ronnie Screwwala under his home banner RSVP movies, the film chronicles Sam Manekshaw’s military career which spanned over four decades and five wars. He was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. He commanded the Indian forces during the India-Pakistan 1971 war.

Vicky Kaushal took to his social media profile and announced the name of the film on the birth anniversary of Manekshaw. He captioned the post, “The man. The legend. The brave heart. Our Sam Bahadur…On the birth anniversary of Field Marshal #SamManekshaw, his story has found its name. Sam Bahadur”

The shared short clip, showcases different names Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw was called by before ‘Sam Bahadur’ flashes on the screen. A voiceover can be heard playing in the background, “Kai naamo se pukare gaye, ek naam se humare hue.”

The upcoming biopic marks the second collaboration between the actor and Meghna, who have worked together in ‘Raazi’ before.

Apart from Sam Bahadur, actor Vicky Kaushal will next portray the freedom fighter Udham Singh, who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, in a biopic directed by Shoojit Sircar.

He also reunited with Aditya Dhar in an action film about the mythological character Ashwatthama titled The Immortal Ashwatthama which is planned as trilogy and it is his first superhero film, produced by RSVP.
