Govinda tests positive for Covid-19; under home quarantine

Actor Govinda has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently under home quarantine. The actor said he is under able medical guidance. He tested positive on Sunday morning and urged everyone who came in contact with him recently to get themselves tested.

Talking to media about his health, the actor said: “I have been testing myself and taking all the necessary precautions to keep the coronavirus away. However, I tested positive today following mild symptoms. All others at home have tested negative. Sunita (wife) has just recovered from Covid-19 a couple of weeks back.”

The actor added: “I am under home quarantine and under able medical guidance. I request everyone to please follow all the necessary precautions and please take care.”

Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja requested all those who came in contact with him in the recent past should get themselves tested as a precautionary measure.

Govinda was recently seen in two movies in 2019, ‘Rangeela Raja’ and ‘Chashma Chaddha’ wherein he played Vijendra Pratap Singh and Ajay Pratap Singh in the former while portraying the titular role in the latter. He will also be seen in ‘Bhagwan Ke Liye Mujhe Chhod Do’ and ‘Pinky Darling And National Hero’, for which release dates are yet to be announced.

Earlier on Sunday, Akshay Kumar and ‘Bandish Bandits’ actor Ritwik Bhowmik also tested positive for COVID-19.

Maharashtra reported 49,447 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest rise in a day so far, taking the tally to 29, 53,523 while 277 fatalities pushed the toll to 55,656, the state health department said. Mumbai city also registered 9,108 new infections, the highest spike in a single day.

Amid a massive surge in Covid-19 cases in the state, the Maharashtra government on Sunday ordered to impose complete lockdown next weekend from 8 pm on Friday to 7 am on Monday.
