IWD COMES WITH AN OFFICIAL THEME
What’s there with the theme? Well, The celebration is all about the theme which portrays the entire deeds of women and their brave acts.
It was in 1996, the UN established a theme for the year’s celebration as “Celebrating the Past, Planning for the Future.” In 1997, “Women at the Peace Table” and they have been continuing the theme tradition every year.
In 2019, it was “Better the balance, better the world.” And the theme for this year (2020) is “I AM GENERATION EQUALITY: REALIZING WOMEN’S RIGHTS”. The purpose of the selection of this theme is to “bring people together of every gender, age, ethnicity, race, religion, and country.” This is because we should create a better world with gender equality.
