Karnataka Trends In Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate Rises

New Covid-19 cases are being registered in Karnataka. On Monday 529 new cases were registered and 738 cases on Tuesday. Only four patients have been reported to have died due to the infection, two from Bengaluru and two from Mysuru.

“Recoveries rose to 9,18,099 with 738 discharged during the day, while 529 new cases increased the state’s Covid tally to 9,36,955, including 6,633 positive cases,” said the state health bulletin on Tuesday.

The state’s death toll reaches 12,204 since the pandemic first broke in March last year. 276 fresh cases have been registered on Monday in Bengaluru, making the covid tally to a total of 3, 97,609, which includes the 4264 actives cases in the city. The total number of recovered cases registered has increased to 3, 88,962 with 452 being discharged in the last 24 hours.

Of the 147 patients in the intensive care units (ICUs) across the southern state, 70 are in Bengaluru hospitals and 13 in Kalaburagi district with the remaining in 28 other districts.

A total of 65,563 tests have been conducted in one day, out of which 6851 were done through rapid-antigen detection and 58712 were conducted through RT-PCR. The positivity rate and fatality rate for the day across the state on Monday was 0.80 and 0.75 per cent respectively.

Vaccines were given in 5 out of the 30 districts namely- Ballari, Bengaluru Rural, Dharwad, Hassan and Raichur due to public holiday on account of the 72 Republic Day.

Since January 16, there are 4,21,385 registered beneficiaries but only 2,31,604 took the vaccination which covers 55 per cent of the target audience. Meanwhile, out of 2094 registered healthcare workers, only 435 have taken the vaccination accounting for 40 per cent of the target for the day.
