Reliance Foundation launches Mission Anna Seva To Combat Covid-19

Smt. Nita M Ambani, founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation  has announced Mission Anna Seva which will be the largest meal distribution programme ever undertaken by a corporate foundation.

The Coronavirus outbreak which originated in China has infected more than 24 lakh people till date with a death toll of over 170000 people all over the world. The spread of the virus has destroyed the economic growth and almost every industry has been hit very badly due to this pandemic. Businesses around the world are left counting costs. India, too, is facing an increase in the number of corona affected cases each day. In view of the extended lockdown, Reliance Foundation, the philanthropic initiative of Reliance Industries has come forward and launched Mission Anna Seva.

The official social media account of Reliance Foundation shared the news and wrote, “Smt. Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation announced that Reliance Foundation has launched Mission Anna Seva which will be the largest meal distribution programme ever undertaken by a corporate  foundation anywhere in the world.

Through Mission Anna Seva, Reliance Foundation will provide over 3 crore meals , to marginalised communities and frontline workers across the nation. Reliance Foundation has already distributed over 2 crore meals in 68 districts across 16 States and 1 Union Territory.

In addition, Reliance has donated Rs.535 crore rupees to various relief funds. Reliance,in partnership with BMC, set up India’s first 100 bed exclusive Covid-19 Hospital in Mumbai which is being expanded to 250 beds. Reliance will produce one lakh masks daily and hundreds and thousands of PPEs for health workers and caregivers across India. RIL salutes our doctors, nurses and staff at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation, Retail, Jio and all employees.”

Many celebrities from various walks of life  have also come forward amidst this trial times and have generously donated to the state and the central government in their fight against the  virus. Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan -Kareena Kapoor Khan , Virat Kohli Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra , Rohit Sharma, Lata Mangeshkar  are amongst the few who have donated a substantial amount to the relief funds.
