Rotary Club of Madras to support TN Govt vaccination MOU Signed by Pres. Kapil Chitale and Dr.J. Radhakrishnan IAS

The Rotary Club of Madras (RCM) has signed an MOU with the Dept. of Public Health and Hygiene, Govt. of Tamilnadu on 17th March 2020, to support and strengthen the Tamilnadu Government’s vaccination drive. The MOU assigns RCM as the Nodal Rotary Club to coordinate Rotary India’s assistance with the Govt of Tamilnadu’s vaccination drive through its affiliate/sister entities, charitable trusts, fellow Rotary Clubs, and partnering corporates.

The MOU was signed by Pres. Kapil Chitale and Dr. J. Radhakrishnan IAS, Health Secretary, Tamilnadu in the presence of officials from the Rotary Club of Madras and Govt. of Tamilnadu. President Kapil Chitale as Chair of RCM’s Covid initiative would coordinate the effort and interface with the Rotary India Task Force. As Co-Chair, PP Dr. Gauthamadas has been assigned as the Nodal Officer for the Rotary Club of Madras and will directly work with the Joint Director of Immunisation, Tamilnadu to channel Rotary India’s efforts.

To kick start the partnership RCM will donate two 14 ft refrigerated vaccine trucks, two 8 ft refrigerated vaccine trucks, ten ice-lined refrigerators, 10 deep freezers, and 1000 vaccine carriers to the Department of Public Health and Hygiene.

The Health Secretary, Dr. Radhakrishnan has also agreed to consider to impanel government-approved -hospitals and medical centers run by Rotary Clubs and Rotarians in Tamilnadu along with other suggested measures to increase Rotary’s involvement in the CoVid vaccination drive which will help the community at large.
