There Is Durga In Every Woman, Says Bhumi Pednekar

Bhumi Pednekar’s choice of films defines the kind of performer and individual that she is. The actor consciously looks out for narratives where the female voice is in focus or has an equal footing.

The Dum Laga Ke Haisha actor who is all set for her upcoming movie Durgamati said that there is Durga in every woman, especially when it comes to casual sexism.

Bhumi Pednekar was seen interacting with the media on Thursday in Mumbai. When asked in real life what makes Bhumi become Durga, on this Bhumi said, there are many such moments when I get into this image. But I think there is one thing that makes every woman Durga and that is casual sexism.

The Saand Ki Aankh actor is thrilled that Durgamati pushed her to deliver one of her best performances.

Bhumi is confident that audiences will give her a lot of love for Durgamati. She says, “I’m very confident that audiences will give me as much love for Durgamati as they have given me for all my other performances so far. And as it is a family-oriented film the audience will surely love it.

‘Durgamati’ is a horror-thriller film directed by G. Ashok, which is a remake of his own 2018 Telugu-Tamil film Bhaagamathie and starring Bhumi Pednekar as an IAS officer, which was played by Anushka Shetty in the original version.

The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Akshay Kumar, and Vikram Malhotra under T-Series, Cape of Good Films, and Abundantia Entertainment.

The official announcement for the film was made on 30 November 2019. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film will be available to stream worldwide from 11 December 2020 on Amazon Prime Video.
