Actress Shashikala Om Prakash Saigal who was better known with her first name Shashikala passed away at her residence today, 4th April at the age of 88. The reason for her demise is still not known and the family is still to release an official statement.
Born in Solapur, Maharashtra, by the age of 5, she had already been dancing, singing and acting on stage in many towns in Solapur district. The actress was known for her portrayal of supporting roles in the films.
She was featured in over 100 films and is best known for her roles in ‘Aarti’, ‘Gumrah’, ‘Baadshah’, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’. She received Padma Shri award in the year 2007 for her contribution to Indian Cinema.
Many Bollywood celebrities have come forward to mourn her death.
