to reduce environmental footprint.

Hilton Mumbai International Airport celebrated the 51st anniversary of Earth Week between April 18 to 24, 2021. April 22 marks Earth Day, and over the years the week leading up to this day has become an annual, global celebration to honour our planet. At Hilton, Earth Week allows us to recognize the great work our Team Members around the world do to protect the environment.

“For over 100 years, Hilton and its Team Members have had a positive impact in the communities where we work and live. We are proud to have made great progress towards our Travel with Purpose 2030 Goal to cut our environmental footprint in half, but there is still more to do!” said Mr. Brijesh Singh, F&B Manager, Hilton Mumbai International Airport.

During Earth Week, the hotel team rounded up ways for the team members to activate the Back-to-Basics program. Back-to-Basics is a program designed to drive cost and utility savings through small, zero-cost behavior changes. This program provides individual departments with tips on how to identify inefficiencies and reduce utility consumption to achieve tangible cost savings. It is estimated that implementing the Back-to-Basics program can save a 200-room hotel $70,000 per year at no additional cost.

The team at Hilton Mumbai International Airport celebrated Earth Day by beautifying the entrance of the hotel with a collective plantation drive, driven by the Executive Housekeeper and Horticulture team. All safety and sanitization protocols for all team members were maintained during this plantation drive.

At Hilton Mumbai International Airportconstant efforts are taken by the team to contribute to making our planet greener again. Being one of the major leaders in the hospitality industry, Hilton Mumbai International Airport took an initiative wherein they collected Waste/Used Cooking Oil (UCO) which was converted into Biodiesel ~ a sustainable source of energy under the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) which contributed to the reduction of GHG (Greenhouse Gas).

The Hilton India properties participate in Soap Recycling efforts in collaboration with Sundara NGO. Working towards making a positive change in many lives as part of this program, Hilton Mumbai donates partially used soaps to Sundara. The team at Sundara sanitize and recycle these soaps post which they are distributed within local communities.

Further, to make sure that the team is contributing in the smallest way possible, a unique initiative has been taken forth to observe ‘No Bin Day’ on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays every week at the Team Members’ Restaurant O22. This was done with an effort to reduce food wastage and to urge team members to take only required amount of food. Asa constant reminder to the team members about the need for making an ardent effort to conserve and protect our planet, daily briefings, posters as well as in-house channels highlighting important facts related to environmental awareness are displayed.
