May December Trailer Is Out

Netflix drops an official trailer for May December, helmed by Todd Haynes, about the tabloid romance still haunting the people involved.

Twenty years after their notorious tabloid romance gripped the nation, a seemingly secure married couple with a huge age-gap buckles under the pressure when a popular television actress arrives to do research for a film about their sordid past.

The film stars Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman, Charles Melton, DW Moffett, Cory Michael Smith, Drew Scheid, and Jocelyn Shelfo.

Elizabeth (Natalie Portman), a popular TV star, is ingratiating herself into the lives of Gracie (Julianne Moore), whom she’ll be playing on-screen, and her much younger husband, Joe (Charles Melton), to better understand the psychology and circumstances that more than 20 years ago made them notorious tabloid figures.

From a sensational premise, consummate film artist Todd Haynes has constructed an American tale of astonishing richness and depth, which touches the pressure and pleasure points of a culture obsessed equally with celebrity and trauma.

The screenplay is written by Samy Burch, from a story by Samy Burch and Alex Mechanik. The film releases in theatres on November 17th, 2023, then streaming on Netflix starting December 1st.
