Konkona Sen Sharma starring short film, A Monsoon Date bags the prestigious Best Short Film Award at Indian Film Festival Of Cincinnati 2020.

The official handle of Eros Now dropped the confirmation on the award win. It said, “We are super happy & proud to announce that our film #AMonsoonDate has been awarded as the ‘Best Short Film’ at the Indian Film Festival of Cincinnati 2020! A Monsoon Date” is about an eventful, rainy evening when a young woman is on her way to see a young man she is dating. Along the way, she experiences bittersweet moments with a series of strangers, even as a storm brew inside her. She reveals to the young man a heart-breaking truth about her past. This truth, she knows, is not possible for anybody to understand. And yet, she hopes that he would. With her heart pounding like the torrential rain around her, she holds on to this unreasonable hope.

The film is directed by Tanuja Chandra, with screen play by Gazal Dhaliwal. The film is bankrolled by Rakesh Singh also starring Priyanshu Painyuli, Prasad Reddy and Chittaranjan Tripathy in pivotal roles.

Konkona Sen Sharma’s last release, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare also premiered at the 24th Busan International Film Festival under the section “A Window on Asian Cinema”.

The film also starred Bhumi Pednekar, Vikrant Massey and Amol Parashar is helmed by Alankrita Shrivastava and bankrolled by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under their banner Balaji Telefilms.

The film was released on Netflix on 18 September 2020.
