He added saying that he has got the opportunities to play different kind of roles in his career.

Emraan Hashmi was interacting with News Helpline at the success bash of ‘Lut Gaye’ on the occasion of his 42nd birthday in Mumbai.

Emraan Hashmi made his acting debut with ‘Footpath’ in 2003 which didn’t do well at the box-office but his 2004 release ‘Murder’ changed things for him as an actor. After ‘Murder’, Hashmi delivered back to back hit films during late 2000. Since last few years, Emraan’s films didn’t well but with his recently released film ‘Mumbai Saga’ and now the music video ‘Lut Gaye’, people are saying that he has got his rhythm back and its Emraan Hashmi’s 2.0 version, when asked Emraan what’s his take on it, he said, “I keep hearing that but I honestly don’t know because I am still putting in the same effort that I have always put in my work. I wanted to change things around me be it my film choices. Now ‘Chehre’ is up for its release and I can say that it has a new side of me that people haven’t seen. I have been lucky that I am getting such kinds of opportunities and I hope it continues that way.”

‘Chehre’ is directed by Rumi Jaffrey with production by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Saraswati Entertainment Private Limited. The film also features Krystle D’Souza, Rhea Chakraborty, Siddhanth Kapoor, Annu Kapoor, Dhritiman Chatterjee and Raghubir Yadav in pivotal roles. It is slated to release in theatres on 9th April, 2021.

‘Lut Gaye’ has crossed 300 million views on YouTube after one month of its release. The song is ruling the music charts as well every social media platform. Talking about the super success of ‘Lut Gaye’, Hashmi said, “I am still in shock… I knew this was a very special song that will do well but now I have stopped keeping track of the song because every day the views are increasing by 10 or 15 millions, so it has completely gone insane. Bhushan (Kumar) ji made me listen to this song during lockdown and I was waiting to shoot it. I have earlier collaborated with Jubin (Nautiyal). He has got a beautiful and soulful voice. People like Manoj (Muntashir), Tanishk (Bagchi), Yukti (Thareja), Vinay (Sapru) and Radhika (Rao) have added so much value to this track.”

Talking about the increasing popularity of music videos among the audience, Hashmi said, “I think music videos are definitely an added avenue. I mean music videos were always there but now it’s connected with the explosion of digital media. No one had an option during lockdown, so now people have understood the value of music videos and OTT platforms because it’s huge and there is so much scope here. It is also giving work to many people. Now it’s not just about film actors as there are many YouTube stars and Instagram stars, so the whole terrain has become so much wider and I think it empowers the audience because there are many choices in front of them and because of competition, I think the quality of work is getting better.”

Emraan Hashmi will also feature in horror-drama film ‘Ezra’ along with Darshana Banik, Nikita Dutta, Vipin Sharma in key roles. It is a remake of Malayalam film of the same name. ‘Ezra’ is written and directed by Jay Krishnan, produced by T-Series and Panorama Studios.
