A case of a 14-year-old minor girl has, yet again, come to light in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
An A 22-year-old man has been arrested, along with his father, for allegedly raping the minor, when they were attempting to flee.
The accused raped the girl, made obscene videos of her and attempted to pressurize her into religious conversion for marriage. Various charges of rape and unlawful religious conversion and sections of POCSO Act have been pressed against the father-son.
Station House Officer of the Kotwali police station Vipin Singh said the family members of the accused allegedly threatened the girl to convert for ‘nikah’ (marriage).
“The Muslim youth, on January 11, entered the house of a 14-year-old girl and raped her. After this, he made a clip and exerted pressure on the girl by showing the video clip. The girl, on January 13, narrated the incident to her parents. Since the accused were influential, the family members of the girl could not muster the courage to complain” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Vipin Tada.
The case was finally registered with the Police on Monday by the father of the victim followed by a complaint.
“The Muslim youth and his father were arrested on Tuesday from near a railway station while they were trying to escape. Both were produced before a local court, which sent them to jail,” the SP said.
