Ladakh Food Trails : A Culinary Journey Through Himalayan Heritage

Experience the culinary brilliance of Chef Nilza Wangmo as she presents her unparalleled expertise in Ladakhi cuisine, during a five-day pop-up ‘Leh Ladakh Food trails’ at Stix, the award winning restaurant at Hyatt Regency Chennai. Chef Nilza is curating this pop up in Chennai after successful and well received festivals across the country.

Chef Nilza Wangmo along with Chef Manish Uniyal, Executive Chef, Hyatt Regency Chennai, has meticulously crafted an exclusive and authentic pop-up menu from March 6th to March 10th, 2024. The Pop Up shall showcase Ladakhi cuisine and its rich heritage with an interactive live cooking experience presented by Chef Nilza Wangmo and the talented culinary brigade at Stix. The menu has been curated using traditional ingredients and cooking techniques.

Speaking about her journey, Chef Nilza Wangmo, said “This is the food I cook for my family and loved ones. Recipes that have been one with nature, using seasonal ingredients and sustainable cooking techniques I feel privileged to be able to showcase the rich culinary fabric of Ladakh to Chennai which has such an eclectic food scene”.

We work on curating versatile and authentic menus that celebrate cuisines of different cultures from across the globe. The five-day pop-up has been brought to Chennai by Yogita Uchil, popular food evangelist and Entrepreneur in collaboration with Hyatt Regency Chennai for the first time.

Chef Nilza Wangmo is a Nari Shakti Puraskar laureate, conferred by the President of India in 2019. Owner of the all-women restaurant Alchi Kitchen in Ladakh, Chef Wangmo has introduced authentic Ladakhi cuisine to her patrons. Alchi Kitchen, nestled in the shadow of a thousand-year-old monastery, accommodates 40 to 60 people at a time. Established in 2016 by Chef Nilza the restaurant has quickly gained popularity, leading to the opening of a branch in Leh.

The pop up shall serve some authentic gems such as Mok Mok, Stuffed Kambhir, Chutagi, Ladakhi Butter Tea and array of other hearty creations from the Himalayan trails.
