Recipe of the Day: Delish and Crispy Banana Flower Vada (Vazhaipoo Vada)

The whole parts of Banana plant, itself, is a nutritious, healthy and medicinal plant. However, banana flower is one of the essential part of the plant which includes enough nutrients. However, not everyone is fan of banana flower. Likewise, kids keep long faces when they see dishes prepared with banana flower. How to prepare banana flower vada or vazhai poo vada?

While cleaning the banana flower takes some time, you can wash it before preparing the vada dough for the recipe. So, let’s see the steps to prepare banana flower vada or vazhai poo vada recipe.

  1. Now, take chana dal and rinse it well with the water
  2. Soak it well and drain the water at the end
  3. Now add cinnamon, fennel, and black pepper as required
  4. Grind the mixture until it becomes semi fine paste
  5. Do not add water while grinding the mixture
  6. If needed add some amount of water as required
  7. Now take the channa dal paste and add it to the bowl with chopped banana flower
  8. Then, add chopped onion, ginger, green chilies, coriander leaves, and salt as required amount
  9. Mix it well and shape it.
  10. And now fry on the medium flame until it becomes crispy.
  11. Serve it with coconut chutney or mint chutney or tomato ketchup.
