ORIGIN AND HISTORY OF WORLD LAUGHTER DAY: As you know, World Laughter Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May every year in the largest cities of the world. Laughing is one of the best medicines which could help you to stay healthy and peaceful. However, the first “World Laughter Day” gathering took place at Mumbai in India on 11th January 1998.
Historically about 12,000 members participated from local and international Laughter Clubs in a mega laughter session. “Happy-Demic” was the first gathering of World Laughter Day which is outside India. It was gathered back on 9th January 2000 at Copenhagen in Denmark and there are more than 10,000 people who gathered in the Town Hall Square. And that was how the event paves its way into the Guinness Book of World records.
Usually, the World Laughter Day celebration is the congregation of members of the laughter club and their families and friends at biggest cities, public parks or auditoriums and laugh.
When it comes to India, the members of the Laughter Club would do a peace march and they use to carry banners and placards displaying World Peace Through laughter, The Whole World Is An Extended Family, Join a Community Laughter Club – Its free” and etc. Even during the march, they use to chant “HO HO, HA-HA-HA” and starts clapping and dancing in gleam. And after some distance, they would stop and do a few Laughter Yoga exercises and then they move on and read out the message of Dr. Madan Kataria, who was the founder of the Worldwide Laughter Yoga Movement and who created the day in 1998. You should know the importance of the day and its importance in our lives and this year the day has been celebrated on 3rd May 2020. Since it is a pandemic time, you have to throw away all your panics and fears and start spreading happiness which is necessary at this difficult time.
